HUSSWAA ACTIVITIES

HUSSWAA is committed to HU students and the community so the organization looks for opportunities to support and sponsor community-based projects.

HUSSWAA has three established scholarship funds to support students working to make social work their profession of choice.

• Sankofa Scholarship - awards $2500 scholarships to deserving second year HU School of Social Work students.
• Lucy Slowe Scholarship - awards $5000 scholarships to promising first year HU School of Social Work students.
• Book Scholarship Fund - awards funds to assist students with defraying the cost of books needed to successfully matriculate through the HU School of Social Work.
• International Service Learning Fund - supports MSW students participating in Alternative Spring Break activities abroad.

During graduation week, HUSSWAA sponsors an annual alumni luncheon. This annual event provides an opportunity for alumni and graduating students to fellewship and network as we honor outstanding achievement in the field of social work and also present scholarships.

HUSSWAA has sponsored or co-sponsored social work licensing workshops to further prepare graduating HU students for the national licensing examination.
