Thank You for Supporting the HUSSW Food Drive!

We are thrilled to share that our recent Food Drive—highlighted in The Hilltop—was a huge success! In honor of the Howard University School of Social Work’s 90th anniversary, we partnered with the Howard University School of Social Work Alumni Association (HUSSWAA) and the Student Council Association (SCA) to support the Nourish HU Food Pantry.

Because of the HUSSW community, we collected well over 1,200 canned goods and other non-perishable items. Your generosity will directly support students across Howard University who rely on Nourish HU for essential items.

We extend our gratitude to our partners, HUSSWAA and SCA, for co-leading this effort. Aldo a special thank you to Ericka Byrd, Administrator Coordinator for Student Services, who staffs and collects donated items for the Nourish HU office. 

Ms. Byrd shares this message:

“We are extremely grateful for the School of Social Work’s generous donation to Nourish HU. During a time of increased need amongst students, the love and care represented by these packages is truly felt. As a result of your donation, and others in the community, we were able to host a pop-up pantry on West Campus this week as well as expand our offerings leading up to the Thanksgiving recess. Asante Sana to all of the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners who donated. Your support makes the difference!”
