Spring 2021 MSW Graduate Awards & Recognition Ceremony
On May 5, 2021, the Howard University School of Social Work celebrated the class of Spring 2021 MSW graduates with a virtual Awards and Recognition Ceremony.
Dr. Tracy Whitaker served as Mistress of Ceremonies throughout the program. Congratulatory remarks were offered by President Wayne A. I. Frederick and HU Provost Anthony Wutoh. Dr. Mildred 'Mit' Joyner, HUSSW's John E. and Barbara S. Jacob Endowed Professor, offered the keynote address, and Congresswoman Karen Bass offered greetings. Dr. Gloria Batiste-Roberts was the recipient of the Inabel Burns Lindsay Social Work Education Leadership Award. Student Council Association (SCA) President Toni Manigault spoke on behalf of the Student Council Association. Dean Sandra Edmonds Crewe provided congratulations and offered context for the importance of social work over the past year throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, sending graduates into the world with not only degrees but also hope and inspiration.
Academic Honors were offered to MSW students for academic achievement including Dean's List, Phi Alpha Honor Society, Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) participants, Student Leadership Service Award, and Dean's Distinguished Graduate Awards. Dr. Altaf Husain read the names of all Spring 2021 graduating students and Dean Sandra Edmonds Crewe provided the culmination of the event with closing remarks.
